• Rico & Plato - The Brand
ricoplato-the-brand

At Rico & Plato we talk wood – because wood is our passion and our life, and we are deeply immersed in it. We are based in the heart of Teak country in Central Java, and we have access to the best sources of materials, and to the most skilled and highly trained craftsmen. Our Table Art is our favourite collection because the products are deeply rooted in the natural forms of the wood from which they are derived. We simply coax them out from within.

We have many other items made from Teak and other timbers which we are equally proud of, because we spend the time necessary to perfect the designs and the quality before we present them to you.

The impetus of our brand is Angie Hanny / Van Belle, a native daughter of Jepara who’s own personal passion for Teak, and local skilled craftspeople drives us to find the best and be the best. Her years in the furniture business in its many facets has honed her ability to choose the most popular and marketable designs, and present them in the wonderful fashion you see displayed here.

ECO FRIENDLY PACKAGING.

Marin debris is the rubbish of our everyday lives that makes its way into our ocean. Rubbish travels over land, down streams, rivers and storm drains to the oceans. Once in the ocean, it can drift thousands of miles from its origin to the most remote ocean places, leaving a wake of destruction in its path. Every year, debris kills thousands of marine animals and sea birds, chokes coral reffs and smothers critical environtments. It also contaminates our beaches and favorite recreation sites. Better information about sources and impact is extremely important to drive changes in infrastructure and waste management policies at all levels. Who is responsible? All of us. Together we can help prevent and clear up this mess for a clean, healthy ocean planet.

Eco-friendly packaging is easily recycled, and is safe for individuals and the environment. It makes use of renewable energy, and uses as much renewable or recycled materials as possible. It is also known as green packaging, or sustainable packaging. Eco packaging causes less damage to the environment than other types of packaging due to falling in to one of 3 possible categories:

• It can be reused
• It can be recycled
• It’s biodegradable

Some eco packaging items can be used again in their original form, others are made of materials that can be recycled and made into something else and others simply decompose in an environmentally friendly way.

Looking out for the future of our environment is the primary reason Rico&Plato use environmentally friendly packaging. We should all be aware of the impact of our actions on the environment around us, and take some responsibility for those actions.

Branding

Laser logo and branding

Many of our products display the R&P logo engraved by laser. We are proud of our products and our brand, and we like to spread the word by using our logo, so it becomes synonymous with our products and enters people’s psyche.

It makes sense for other businesses to be able to offer branded accessories and knickknacks as gifts, for sale, and as promotional products as well. So we offer a free custom logo service where we can laser engrave your company logo into almost any of our products. This is a great way to get the word out about your business, an event, or even a worthy cause.

As you have seen in our websites pages we often use black finishing to offset and contrast our wooden accessories natural colour, so it goes without saying that a crisp, sharp and detailed logo burnt black into a products surface just looks fantastic. So take advantage of this free service and get the buzz about your business on the go.

Packaging : no plastics are used

We take great care in packaging our products, so they arrive to you in perfect condition, and also so you can easily deliver purchased products to your clients. All items are individually bagged in their own drawstring bags (in sets where applicable). They are then packed in groups (4-6 cutting boards for example) in master boxes made from strong double face cardboard carton.
